Today has been an unbelievably bad day.

I turned on the computer this morning, expecting the comforting sound of a whirring 320GB external hard drive.
Instead, I received a terrifying clicking sound.

Click, click, click, click, click........ Then nothing, it just dies.

So I visit loads of discussion boards, trying to find solutions.

In the end I pry the outer casing apart, and extract the actual hard drive.

I plug it into my computer internally, restart, and there it is again. Clicking like a bastard.

I went back to the discussion boards, this time posting my own question:

I was given an article to read from my first reply, an article about how freezing your hard drive in a freezer can temporarily fix the problem.

Unbelievable...

So I tried it and it didn't work. I took it out the freezer after 4 hours of cooling and it proceeded to sing it's clicky song.

I can't help but feel like a idiot after putting my hard drive in a freezer for several hours.

So in conclusion, I started the day with this:

And I ended with this:

Not bad for a day's work.
